Lazio will prepare to face Atalanta BC for a second time this week. The Biancocelesti will hope to get the victory on this occasion after falling 3-2 in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals during the week.

Ahead of their matchup with La Dea, Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi spoke to the media at his press conference, where La Lazio Siamo Noi relayed his words.

One of the first questions that Inzaghi is over what he plans to do differently against Atalanta. Lazio is two points behind their opponent and will need a victory to leap over them in the Serie A standings.

Wednesday’s match was excellent, we played very well for long stretches of the fixture. However, in some moments, we must not make mistakes. Atalanta is a strong opponent; there were individual mistakes that compromised qualification that we wanted in every way. It’s useless to think about it now, let’s see tomorrow, it will be as complicated as the Cup match.

Inzaghi then touched on Luis Alberto’s availability, who has missed the last three fixtures due to an emergency appendectomy. Furthermore, the Lazio manager answered whether newcomer Mateo Musacchio could also see some playing time against Atalanta.

Luis has two good training sessions yesterday, and today, he comes back after ten days from an operation. We will have to evaluate him, today’s feelings were good. We’ll see tomorrow in muscle awakening. Musacchio? I wanted him, we wanted him. He has trained for two days with us; if he does not play initially, he will enter during the match. Tomorrow morning I will dissolve the last doubts.

The Lazio manager then discussed the team’s mood ahead of a significant fixture and if his squad can put the Coppa Italia defeat versus Atalanta behind them.

We are disappointed. We wanted the semifinal; maybe we deserved it for what we saw. Football doesn’t always go as it should. We are in an extraordinary moment in the league. We want to continue like this, and we need a great match against a great team. They will stay in Rome Strakosha, Caicedo, Cataldi and Luiz Felipe. All the others will come to play an important fixture.

Finally, Inzaghi discussed the match’s importance as a victory would have them leap over Atalanta in the Serie A table and put them near the top four if other results this weekend go their way.

Crucial match. We know that we will have to do our best. The second half of the season begins, there are 19 matches to go. So far we have put aside a fair amount, also thinking about the qualification obtained in the Champions League. We know that to reach the top four, we will have to do something more or we will finish in the top six.
