“For Us, It Was Necessary to Win, Especially Against Them” – Joaquin Correa Comments on Lazio’s Win Over Atalanta

Adam Marušić scored the opening strike for Lazio to give the Biancocelesti the early lead. The score stayed 1-0 through the first half until Joaquin Correa added the squad’s second goal in the second half to add some security.

Much like Correa’s previous goals, the Argentina international’s strike had a helping hand from Ciro Immobile. Ciro Immobile has assisted on six of Correa’s last ten goals. Both players appear to be forming a substantial partnership upfront and developing chemistry.

Correa spoke to Lazio Style Channel (via Corriere dello Sport), where he discussed the connection he has with Immobile and the victory over Atalanta.

We know their type of play and what kind of match they wanted to play. The goal I scored is a consequence of the work I do during the match. Ciro Immobile and I were doing a great job, and then the goal came. I always trust Immobile, he’s very strong, and I’m happy to play by his side.

The Biancocelesti now finds itself in fifth place with 37 points as they leaped over Atalanta in the Serie A table. Correa touched on what lies ahead as Lazio hopes to crack the top four spots at some point this season as they attempt to clinch UEFA Champions League football for the next campaign.

For us, it was necessary to win, especially against them, but this must be a starting point. We have a lot of desire and must go on match after match with this mentality.

Inzaghi? He talks to everyone a lot. We are used to it and I hear everything he tells me. At half-time, he told us that we were having a great match, but that it took sacrifice to bring home three points, and we did it well.
