“There Was a Desire for Revenge After Wednesday” – Manuel Lazzari on Lazio’s Victory Over Atalanta

During the week, Lazio fell 3-2 to Atalanta BC in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals and was eliminated from the domestic cup tournament. A few days later, both sides would meet again in Serie A competition, and the Biancocelesti had only one thing on their mind: revenge. Furthermore, La Dea was ahead of Lazio in the standings, so a victory for Simone Inzaghi’s side would see them leap over their opponent in Serie A and inch closer to a top-four UEFA Champions League spot.

Adam Marušić’s early strike to give Lazio the lead nearly three minutes into the fixture was an early indicator of how the night would go for them. Le Aquile would go on to score two more goals courtesy of Joaquin Correa and Vedat Muriqi as they walked away with a 3-1 win and currently find themselves in fifth place with 37 points.

Manuel Lazzari spoke postgame where Corriere dello Sport relayed his comments over Lazio’s victory over Atalanta.

Surely there was a desire for revenge after Wednesday as we didn’t deserve defeat, but this is football.

Today it was tough until the end; Atalanta always gives two thousand percent.

What happened after the final whistle? Nothing. They celebrated on Wednesday, we celebrated today. It was nothing special.

We are happy with this victory, we have picked up the pace and we want to continue like this.
