Giuseppe Pancaro Is Optimistic About Lazio’s Chances Ahead of Champions League Clash With Bayern Munich

This month, Lazio will head into a David vs. Goliath matchup in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

The Italian side will face FC Bayern Munich, who won the competition last year and sit seven points clear of the next club in the Bundesliga.

Furthermore, Bayern was dominant in the Champions League group stage as they won five of the six fixtures with only a draw taking away from their near-perfect record.

However, the Biancocelesti’s form should provide them with some confidence; actually, there’s one former Lazio player that believes the Italian side can pull off the upset.

Giuseppe Pancaro, who played for Lazio from 1997 to 2003, spoke about the Champions League match up to Lazio Style Channel, where La Lazio Siamo Noi relayed his comments.

Many years have passed, so it isn’t easy to find analogies. Indeed we are talking about two powerful teams.

Simone Inzaghi’s Lazio got drawn with the reigning champions [Bayern Munich] in the second round, probably the worst team they could find.

However, the same goes for the Germans because Lazio can beat anyone in home or away matches.

I am confident; I think, and I hope, that the Biancocelesti can reach the end of the Champions League.

If Pancaro is right in his prediction, there will be plenty of people in Rome celebrating this massive upset.
