As 2021 now enters the month of February, it marks the beginning of a tough road for Lazio.
In a couple of weeks, the UEFA Champions League will resume with the Round of 16, and the Italian side will have a challenging mountain to climb as they take on FC Bayern Munich. However, reaching the knockout stages is a goal completed for Lazio.
Furthermore, in Serie A, Lazio will take on Inter Milan, who occupies one of the top four spots that the Biancocelesti is trying to grab to qualify for Champions League football next season.
Simone Inzaghi’s squad sits in sixth place, but two points outside fourth place. Last weekend, Lazio defeated Atalanta, who occupied a spot ahead of them, and they will need to do the same against Inter. Nonetheless, they will also need to care of business against weaker opponents and come away with points.
Ahead of a difficult February, Inzaghi spoke with the media, where La Lazio Siamo Noi relayed his comments over what lies ahead for his group in Serie A.
I had already said what our two goals were.
The first was to qualify for the Champions League Round of 16, we got it. The second was to continue playing in Europe; clearly this matter most.
We know that the championship is challenging; we know that the top teams we will have to face are keeping up at an incredible pace. In addition, it is important to note that we have dropped a few points due to the various vicissitudes that we have had to go through.
However, now we are on an excellent streak and we must not give up; we know that we have to pedal a lot tomorrow evening againt Cagliari.
