The contract extension talks between Lazio and manager Simone Inzaghi seem to be heading in the right direction.

However, until there’s an official announcement regarding the agreement, the topic will continue to be discussed throughout the media.

Inzaghi again answered a question concerning his future during his press conference with the media ahead of Lazio’s matchup against Cagliari.

La Lazio Siamo Noi relayed his words over the contract discussions.

I met with president Lotito, we are very optimistic.

Over the last three days, he [Claudio Lotito] has been involved with the league, so he has not been available. However, I will see him again today; we are in advanced talks concerning my extension.

You all know how happy I am here; you know how much this club and this shirt mean to me.

By Inzaghi’s comments, it seems as if both sides are close to an agreement; perhaps they’re negotiating the last incentives before the deal becomes official. Nonetheless, the Biancocelesti look set to tie down their manager for the next few seasons.

After bringing back UEFA Champions League football and qualifying for the Round of 16 of the competition, Inzaghi is restoring Lazio’s participation in significant matches in Europe.

Furthermore, Lazio sits on the verge of possibly returning to Europe’s top competition for next season as they’re just two points outside of a top-four spot.
