“It Will be an Important Match for Us” — Ciro Immobile on Lazio’s Upcoming Serie A Fixture Against Inter Milan

Lazio’s Ciro Immobile is already looking ahead to the team’s upcoming Serie A clash against league contenders Inter Milan.

Immobile is coming off of a performance against Cagliari in which he scored his 14th league goal of the season. The goal itself was a pivotal one as it turned out to be the game-winner in the match.

Immobile and Lazio now have a major bout against Inter Milan ahead. Antonio Conte currently has his side in second place in the league standings and seven points over Lazio.

Immobile certainly knows the significance of this matchup for Lazio, which he detailed a bit in speaking to Sky Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi).

It will be an important match for us. We are not hiding; we are in an excellent moment.

Lazio has picked up its form at a critical time in the season. The Biancocelesti’s current win streak is one in which Immobile notes was much-needed for the side.

We recovered ground in the standings. We had lost heavy points, especially at home. That in the derby and Bergamo were important victories to get back into racing. We have to continue like this because the others are also strong.

Immobile has now scored 19 goals in all competitions this season. The Lazio forward surely wants Italian national team manager Roberto Mancini to take note of his recent performances.

Mancini knows me well; indeed he hopes that he will leave some goals aside for the national team as well. I do my best for my country, perhaps my team-mates in the Azzurro know me less than in Lazio for the moves I make.

Now I have reached maturity to understand that I have to score more there too. I cannot expect the team to serve me in the same way as Lazio and I cannot think that they will change the game.

But I’m aware that more goals are needed, but I’m also aware that if I stay calm, they will arrive.

Immobile can continue to prove his worth to Mancini with a strong showing in Lazio’s upcoming fixture against Inter Milan.
