Only Manchester City and Monaco have earnt more league points in 2021 than Lazio across Europe’s top five leagues, according to a tweet from Italian stats provider OptaPaolo on Twitter last night.
The Biancocelesti have been in incredibly strong form since the start of the year, dropping points in only one league match, against Genoa at the start of the month in a 1-1 draw.
Since then, Simone Inzaghi’s side won six consecutive Serie A matches, against Fiorentina, Parma, Roma, Sassuolo, Atalanta and Cagliari.
The Roman club have earnt 19 points since the start of last month, five less than Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City (24) and two less than Niko Kovac’s AS Monaco (21).
Lazio now sit 5th in the league table, nine points behind Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan and tied on points with 4th place rivals Roma.
