Italian Manager Paolo Stringara Breaks Down the Matchup Between Inter Milan and Lazio

This weekend, Lazio has an enormous task as they head into the San Siro to take on second-place Inter Milan.

The Biancocelesti currently sit in fourth place with 40 points, knocking on the doorsteps of a top three spot. A win would be massive for them; especially after getting off to a sluggish start in the 2020-21 season.

Ahead of the fixture between the two top-five clubs in Serie A, Italian manager Paolo Stringara spoke to Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi). He gave his thoughts on Simone Inzaghi’s side and what mistake they must avoid if they want to pick up a victory over Inter.

This will be a difficult match for both sides. There are some problems at Inter, but in Milan, the Nerazzurri side is always like that. Lazio can do well on Sunday because in recent years, they have become a strong club.

Credit must be given to Inzaghi; for a long time, Lazio had not been seen in such form. Now, they have an identity and extraordinary players. As they played against Atalanta, the Biancocelesti must be careful. Leaving space for the Nerazzurri can be a problem…

Next, Stringara elaborated on both squads’ goalkeeper situation, and was asked which of the two, Samir Handanović and Pepe Reina, he prefers. Furthermore, he analyzed both teams and chose which side has the strongest players in every position. Stringara finally added that if Lazio can pick up the win this weekend, that they can enter the league’s title discussion.

Between Reina and Handanovic? I choose Reina, I have always liked his attitude. In addition to being a good player, he is a good guy, and in the locker room, you need great men.

As for the defense, I prefer Acerbi over all of the defenders in each team. In midfield, I am more or less equal; the same situation applies in attack.

If Lazio wins on Sunday, they can enter the Scudetto fight. Rome and Naples do not seem to me to have the potential to get to the bottom.
