Juventus Defender Bonucci Aiming to Return From Injury in Time for Lazio Clash

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci is expected to be out for around 20 days but should be back in time for the clash against Lazio, according to a report from Italian newspaper Tuttosport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

The report details how the 33-year-old Italian defender, who is contracted to the Bianconeri until 2024, has been suffering from a thigh issue since last week, and isn’t expected to feature against Porto this evening despite being called up by coach Andrea Pirlo.

The injury could be more problematic than initially feared, leaving the former AC Milan man sidelined for around 20 days.

Bonucci’s aim is to return in time for the Serie A clash against Lazio, ahead of the Bianconeri’s Champions League Round of 16 second leg against the Portuguese side.

The 33-year-old has made 25 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2119 minutes. In that time, he has scored two goals and helped the side keep nine clean sheets.
