Official: UEFA Cancel This Season’s Youth League Due To Covid-19 Pandemic

UEFA have decided to cancel the 2020/21 Youth League due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, according to an official announcement by UEFA earlier today.

The report details how the European football organisation have decided to cancel the tournament, in which Lazio’s Primavera squad were competing, due to the ongoing pandemic.

UEFA attempted to change the format this season and delayed the start of the competition, but the continual restrictions on travel make staging the competition this season impossible.

The UEFA Executive Committee also highlighted that there was no possibility of postponing the start of the competition any further, and that the health and safety of young players must remain the highest priority.

Lazio’s Primavera squad can still compete domestically, and they are currently second bottom in the Campionato Primavera, with nine points from nine games.
