Formello: Lazio Star Immobile May Be Rested in Serie A Clash Against Sampdoria

Lazio star Ciro Immobile may be rested against Sampdoria this weekend in order to ensure his fitness for next week’s Champions League Round of 16 first leg against Bayern Munich, according to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today.

The report details how coach Simone Inzaghi tried out an attacking duo of Andreas Pereira and Vedat Muriqi in today’s training session in Formello, a pair that have already featured together against Parma and Atalanta in the Coppa Italia.

The 30-year-old Immobile would then be rested to allow him to stay fully fit for next week’s vital clash against the reigning European and Club World Cup champions.

In the defense, new signing Mateo Musacchio will start in place of Stefan Radu, who is now recovering from surgery carried out earlier today.

Patric and Francesco Acerbi will make up the rest of the defense, ahead of Spanish veteran Pepe Reina. The midfield is likely to be Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Gonzalo Escalante and Luis Alberto, with Senad Lulic and Adam Marusic on the wings.

  1. I believe that the Stadio Flaminio would be a perfect home for Lazio ! Inside the city where a stadium belongs anyway and with walking distance for all. Cozy and very personal to the lazio following ! Please consider it. What a wonderful idea ! A return to tradition and focus .
