Lazio defender Stefan Radu has undergone surgery to fix an inguinal hernia, with his recovery time set to become clearer over the coming hours, according to an official statement released by the club earlier today.

The report details how the 34-year-old Romanian defender, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until the end of the season, was suffering with pain in the warm-up of the 3-1 loss to Inter last week, forcing him to pull out of the game.

His condition has been monitored daily this week, but the club have decided that surgery is the best course of action for his recovery.

Radu’s surgery, carried out by Prof. Paolo Barillari and his team, was a complete success and he will now be closely monitored over the next few days to estimate when he’ll be able to return to the pitch.

This means that the 34-year-old Radu will miss out on next week’s Champions League Round of 16 first leg against German giants Bayern Munich.
