Lazio Women defender Camilla Labate discussed the team’s ambitions and her settling into the squad in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.
I immediately got on well with the team. I’m really happy to wear the shirt I’ve loved since I was a child, I couldn’t ask for anything better. The maximum, obviously, would be to play with Lazio in Serie A.
She touched on her choice of shirt number ‘71’, as well as yesterday’s 2-1 derby win against Roma.
It’s my shirt number and I didn’t choose it by accident. This league is very competitive, the other teams in the race for promotion to the top flight are all very organised. In my opinion we’re stronger.
Yesterday’s win in the derby was fundamental in getting us up after this last series of consecutive draws. We have an important direct match against Riozzese ahead of us and we have to prepare right away to win this match.
Finally, Labate discussed Lazio Women’s ambitions and the importance of coach Carolina Morace.
We want to win the league and we must always take to the pitch to win. The locker room is very happy to have Carolina Morace as a coach, we can only learn a lot from her and put into practice her work on the pitch.
Since she arrived, we are producing much more proactive football. In every training session Morace teaches us something new and, above all, we are having fun.
Lazio Women are currently second in Serie B Women after 15 games, sitting on 26 points, four behind league leaders Pomigliano, who have a game in hand.
