Former Lazio midfielder Thomas Doll discussed the Biancocelesti’s Champions League Round of 16 clash against Bayern Munich next week in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

The Bayern Munich players have had an incredible year. They have won six titles, the last one in Qatar. They are a team that always wants to win and they have an exceptional character.

They have great champions but in recent weeks they have shown that they have some problems with injuries and Covid.

He touched on the importance of talismanic forward Robert Lewandowski.

He has become the best in the world ahead of Messi and Ronaldo. They have a lot of solutions on the wings too with strong players. It won’t be easy for Lazio.

The 54-year-old German did not think that Bayern were underestimating the Roman club.

No, I don’t think so. The Germans have great respect for Italian teams. They come from a World Cup that they won in Qatar, which wasn’t easy.

Everyone saw Lazio’s game against Dortmund. The round of 16 is an in or out game.

The former Lazio and Hamburg man did not think that any Lazio players particularly resembled him.

It will be difficult to see a new Doll! I think Luis Alberto’s movements look a bit like me. But football used to be different.

Doll spoke about the dangers that Biancocelesti star Ciro Immobile poses.

He always wants the ball in the spaces. He can hurt Bayern because he’s a player who can play away from goal. If Bayern’s defense stays high, they risk a lot with Ciro.

He spoke about the importance and spectacle of the match.

You miss the fans in the stadium a lot, especially in games like these. They push you towards victory. Lazio need to play an incredible 180 minutes.

Every Biancoceleste player has to give his best performance, otherwise they won’t win against Bayern. If Bayern play at their best level, they are really hard to beat.

Finally, Doll touched on if former Lazio striker Miroslav Klose could become Bayern coach.

He wants to learn and then do this job. He doesn’t want to jump straight into a big team.
