Lazio midfielder Gonzalo Escalante will start against Sampdoria in tomorrow’s league clash, in place of the rested Lucas Leiva, according to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.
The report details how the 27-year-old Argentine midfielder, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2024, is set to make his fifth league start this campaign against Claudio Ranieri in tomorrow’s match, scheduled at 15:00 local time.

Coach Simone Inzaghi is keen to rest the 34-year-old Leiva, who is a core part of the squad and needs time to gather his strength ahead of next week’s Champions League Round of 16 clash against Bayern Munich.
Joining Escalante in the midfield will be star duo Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto, with Senad Lulic and Adam Marusic on the wings.
The 27-year-old Escalante has made 20 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 715 minutes. In that time, he has picked up five yellow cards and slowly adapted to Inzaghi’s system.
