Bayern Munich CEO Rummenigge: “No Doubt We Can Do Well in Rome Against Lazio”

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge discussed this evening’s Champions League clash against Lazio in an interview with German broadcaster Sky Sports Deutschland (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

Unfortunately, we have absences, not only because of some injuries but also because of Covid. But we have a large squad and there is no doubt that we can do well in Rome against Lazio.

The team is very motivated, we won the Champions League last year and we want to do well again this year.

He touched on the duel between Biancocelesti star Ciro Immobile and Bayern forward Robert Lewandowski.

They are both very good. Immobile did very well last year and was Europe’s top scorer, Lewandowski was the best player in the world. It will be a good battle.

Ciro played for Dortmund, he didn’t have a good year there because he was unfairly criticised. That was a complicated season for Dortmund and I felt sorry for him. In Italy he showed all his qualities, he’s a player who can make a difference.

The Bayern Munich CEO discussed his own future and the club’s successes.

I think exclusively in a positive way, I had the great fortune to win everything in 2020. We have just won the Club World Cup, I am enjoying the good moment and I have had a career in football in which everything went well, first as a player and then as a manager.

I’m very happy and I hope the team will do well this year too

He spoke about the Milan derby and the Serie A title race.

I saw the Milan derby, I liked the result and I congratulated my friend Beppe Marotta.

After a few years of suffering, Inter are back on top, they’re the favourites to win the Scudetto and I sincerely hope so.

Finally, Rummenigge spoke about Nerazzurri forward Romelu Lukaku.

He’s good, he played very well on Sunday but also before. I like him, he works a lot for the team, he scores goals and assists. Sometimes he gets criticised, but he’s good both technically and when it comes to scoring goals.
