Lazio is just a day removed from its 4-1 loss to FC Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg.

Francesco Acerbi took the start for Lazio in the team’s backline. Overall, the Italian defender recorded two clearances, two tackles won and two ground duels completed. But the lowlight of his performance came on the own goal in the second half, which gave Bayern a commanding 4-1 lead.

On Instagram, Acerbi reflected on the crucial loss.

We took the field with an ambitious goal, but we couldn’t get what we wanted. We are very sorry. When we return, we want to fight again and we want to do it with our heads held high. We will give everything! For you and for the jersey, with honor.

Acerbi will sure look for a redemption performance in the return leg of the tie next month.
