Former Italian manager Massimo Piscedda has provided some insight on what went wrong for Lazio in its UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg fixture against FC Bayern Munich.

Defensive errors marred Lazio’s performance against Bayern Munich. The reigning Bundesliga winners wound up taking advantage of such errors by scoring four goals in the match, including two from counterattack sequences.

For Piscedda, there was much that exemplified just why Lazio came away with such a lowly showing in the match. The former Italian manager spoke to the Italian-based outlet TuttoMercatoWeb about the performance from Lazio.

The Germans are much stronger than Lazio; it was no surprise. They were facilitated by the Biancocelesti’s mistakes. The problem is that Reina is our playmaker and you always have to unload the ball back.

Bayern’s superiority was obvious, however, they have strength, and when they accelerate, they are devastating. Luis Alberto and Milinkovic were limited, with Leiva there was no match because they are physically superior.

Lazio heads into the return leg down 4-1 in the tie.
