It was a performance to forget for the Biancocelesti. Lazio’s backline had one difficult time containing the presence of the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Leroy Sane.
Former Italian midfielder Antonio Di Gennaro signals out that Lazio did not just face off against any other team in this season’s UEFA Champions League competition. As Di Gennaro told TuttoMercatoWeb, Lazio battled against the top team in the world, which was a challenge in which the Biancocelesti simply could not afford to make any notable mistakes in.
Lazio clashed with the strongest team in the world. If they don’t make certain mistakes, maybe they played differently, but they had no chance.
It will be interesting to see on which defensive trio will earn the start for Lazio in the return leg next month. It sure will be yet another arduous challenge for the Italian side in this season.
