Lazio have released an official statement today in response to quotes in the Italian media reportedly coming from some Biancocelesti players in the 4-1 loss to Bayern Munich earlier this week.
The statement is referring to articles in the Italian press (like Il Messaggero) that are reporting that some of the Biancocelesti squad were furious during and after the loss to the Bavarian club on Tuesday, saying things like “They’re eating us on the pitch” and “They’re playing a different sport”.
Lazio responded to these alleged comments, saying:
Lazio challenged the reigning World Champions: it didn’t go as we hoped and everyone saw what happened on the pitch.
The sentences reported today in a newspaper do not represent, however, the thought and the state of mind of the team but, on the contrary, a form of exploitation put in place by the usual suspects to break up a squad, a club and fans who have always been compact and united to achieve the objectives set.
Next target: Bologna. With the courage and determination that have never been lacking.
