Ex-Defender Calisti: “Lazio’s Loss to Bayern Munich Was a Matter of Inexperience”

Former Lazio defender Ernesto Calisti discussed the Biancocelesti’s tough 4-1 loss to Bayern Munich earlier this week in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

Given that Lazio faced the strongest team in the world, it must be said that Inzaghi’s men gave up a bit. It’s a matter of not knowing how to handle the tension in certain games, trivial mistakes were made and it’s a matter of inexperience.

It’s a shame, because it could have been a different game, maybe Lazio would have lost anyway but they would have played differently.

He then touched on if the Biancocelesti should have had a penalty in the first half.

If you call it maybe everything would have changed on a mental level. In football you can never say never, in that moment it could have been important.

We should have done something more in the market.
