Lazio Have Conceded More Goals on Just Three Occasions Through 24 Fixtures in Serie A in the Lotito Era

During Simone Inzaghi’s tenure as Lazio manager, the Italian side has pride itself in being a quality defensive squad.

Last season, the Biancocelesti conceded 42 goals, the second-best record in Serie A during the 2019-20 campaign. Only Inter Milan conceded fewer goals as the Nerazzurri only surrendered 36 goals.

However, this season, Lazio has already conceded 32 goals. With 14 fixtures remaining in Serie A for the Rome-based club, the total could go trend higher, which is why this total is one of the worst in the Claudio Lotito era as owner and president.

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, there have been three other instances in which Lazio has surrendered more goals through 24 fixtures: 2004-05 (36), 2008-09 (37), 2017-18 (33). In the 2008-09 season, Lazio finished conceding 55 goals, and in 2017-18 46 goals.

If Lazio wants to secure a top-four finish in Serie A, one way to perhaps do so is to tighten their defense.
