Lazio Midfielder Escalante To Start In Place Of Lucas Leiva Against Torino Tomorrow

Lazio midfielder Gonzalo Escalante is hoping to start against Torino tomorrow evening as he continues to settle at the Roman club.

According to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, the 27-year-old Argentinian midfielder has been slowly moving up the Biancocelesti’s pecking order since his arrival on a free transfer last summer.

Coach Simone Inzaghi may look to give Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva a rest in tomorrow evening’s match against the Granata, allowing Escalante to earn his fifth league start of the campaign.

The Argentine midfielder initially struggled to adapt to Inzaghi’s expectations and tactical system, but now seems to have found his footing and is keen to grow into an important player for the Roman club.

The former Boca Juniors man has made 22 appearances across all competitions so far this season for Lazio, for a total of 779 minutes. In that time, he has picked up seven yellow cards.
