Lazio are working on a contract extension for defender Francesco Acerbi, whose current deal expires in 2023.

According to a report by Fabrizio Romano for Irish media outlet BenchWarmers earlier today, the Biancocelesti are looking to extend the 33-year-old Italian defender’s contract for another few years, believing him to be an important leader in Simone Inzaghi’s side.

Acerbi has made 30 appearances across all competitions so far this season for the Roman club, for a total of 2638 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal, provided three assists and helped the side keep six clean sheets.

The Biancocelesti are working on many contract deals at the moment, and are currently deciding whether to offer various veterans like Senad Lulic, Stefan Radu and Marco Parolo new contracts. The trio all have deals currently set to expire at the end of this campaign.

Coach Simone Inzaghi is also close to reaching a contract extension agreement with Lazio.
