Former Italian midfielder Stefano Fiore has criticized Lazio for its lowly recent Serie A performance against Bologna.
Just days after its UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg defeat to FC Bayern Munich, Lazio faced off against Bologna for a key second half of the season league fixture.
Many expected Lazio to respond to the loss against Bayern by putting together a formidable overall showing against Bologna. But it was the opposite for the Biancocelesti as the side failed to score a single goal against a side battling relegation.
Fiore (via Cittaceleste) was certainly not pleased to see his former side have such a concerning overall league performance.
Lazio failed to react against Bologna after the mistake on the penalty kick. I didn’t expect such a blow against Bayern; it seemed like a friendly.
I think we should have done things differently in the market. Playing in the Champions League should have opened up different horizons. We needed four to five reinforcements that could also be starters.
Lazio is still in the hunt for a top-four spot in the league standings, but this defeat made the journey a bit more difficult.
