Lazio Women defender Margot Gambarotta was positive despite the Biancocelesti’s disappointing 0-0 draw against Riozzese.

Speaking to Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) on Sunday, she first touched on the goalless draw against Riozzese.

Yesterday’s draw is acceptable. Different than the one against Tavagnacco and Cittadella for example, which could certainly be avoided. We faced a solid team, which has important individualities, which expresses a good game.

They gave us a hard time both in the first match and in the return match. We had a clear chance with Martin, we didn’t get a penalty on Di Giammarino. There’s a bit of regret, we could have taken home a few more points.

We continue to work during the week and the results will come. We have changed mentality, we express a better game than before, I have full confidence in the team and in the staff.

The 26-year-old Italian touched on her role change.

Lipmann suffered an injury, she has an Achilles tendon injury. I had to play central defense because we are in emergency. I think I will play there more, although I hope not. Emma Lipmann is a golden girl who helps her teammates a lot on the pitch and we want her back as soon as possible.

My move was not a forced choice, the coach chose me giving me confidence. I’m just happy, every training session teaches us something new. It’s inevitable, she’s unmatched.

Finally, Gambarotta discussed the importance of coach Carolina Morace.

It sounds like a cliche but it is a real honour, she is a legend of Italian women’s football. I was a little bit worried, a little bit anxious, and instead she is the most easy-going and helpful person that as a coach I have ever met.

She amazed me a lot from a human point of view. And not only her, but also the assistant. A combination that has brought us a lot of confidence, a lot of experience, a lot of self-esteem.

We have to be sponges, and learn as much as possible as long as we have the honour of being coached by this staff. We are very lucky, there is nothing else to say.
