Ex-Midfielder Giannichedda: “Lazzari’s Absence Will Weigh Heavily on Lazio Against Juve”

Former Lazio and Juventus midfielder Giuliano Giannichedda highlighted the importance of tomorrow’s match between the Biancocelesti and Bianconeri earlier today.

Speaking with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the 46-year-old Italian spoke about the context heading in to tomorrow’s game.

The match is crucial for both teams. Juve must not lose ground on Inter, while Lazio must not lose ground on the Champions League places.

Both teams are coming from bad times with various problems but it will be a great match.

He didn’t think that the Bianconeri would be distracted by their Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Porto next week.

The Bianconeri have a good squad for all competitions and they won’t be distracted by the Champions League. They’ll play at their best against Inzaghi’s team.

Giannichedda touched on coach Simone Inzaghi’s tactical decisions heading into the match.

Marusic can play the central role in the three, but Lazzari’s absence will weigh heavily.

Change of formation? It’s difficult to change against big teams, if I were Inzaghi I’d focus on Lazio’s usual certainties.

The former midfielder highlighted the importance of Biancocelesti forward Joaquin Correa.

He’s never scored many goals, but he has a lot of important characteristics and he’s useful for the Biancoceleste set-up.

He performs better in Europe because the tactical attitude of the teams is different and that leaves space for players like him to exalt themselves.

He touched on Pirlo’s tough requirements at Juventus.

It took Pirlo some time to find his balance. Injuries and Covid, however, have undermined his certainties again and it’s not easy to find the ideal set-up.

Finally, Giannichedda spoke about the relegation zone in the Serie A table this season.

The situation in the lower parts of the table remains confused. Cagliari are recovering, and Torino, Spezia, Fiorentina and Benevento are at risk.

It’s not easy for renowned teams to find themselves there, it will be a thrilling fight.
