Lazio Coach Inzaghi: “We’ll Need to Play a Perfect Game Against Juventus Tomorrow”

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi spoke about the need to play a “perfect game” against Juventus in tomorrow’s Serie A clash.

Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 44-year-old Italian coach first spoke about the importance of tomorrow’s match.

Tomorrow’s game comes at the right time, we have absences like Juventus, it will be an important game, decisive for the standings.

There are a lot of games left, but tomorrow’s will be very important. We’re coming from an unexpected defeat in Bologna, tomorrow we’ll need to play a perfect game.

He touched on any tactical changes for the game.

We’ve tried alternatives in these two to three days, we have objective difficulties at the back, Lazzari’s absence has been added.

We have to make some changes, today we tried something, we’ll see tomorrow when we’ll have a very light training session. Then I’ll make a calm decision.

The Lazio coach spoke about the squad’s current psychology.

We knew at the start of the year that there were five teams to contend with, us and Atalanta are always trying to stick to the wagon. We lost points at the start, then made a run-up. Now we’ve lost ground to Bologna, this break has served us above all to analyse where we fell short.

We lost to Bayern, we had a good approach to Bologna, we didn’t react to two negative moments that can happen in a game. These days have helped us to analyse what went wrong.

Inzaghi touched on the importance of Biancocelesti star Ciro Immobile.

We’ve played Juve for many years, we’ve had finals against them, even in the past we’ve had matches after our challenge, but we’ve always thought about the pitch.

We know what a player Ciro is, he was sorry after Bologna, he felt very guilty for the mistake, I think it can happen to anyone. He mustn’t let it get him down, I’ve seen him work in the best possible way.

The 44-year-old Italian discussed how Lazio will set up in the match.

It’s not easy in football to set the tempo, there will be times when we are more careful, others when we push.

We remember the first leg, we expected Juve to be more aggressive, then they played a different kind of game. There will be different moments, the moments will be decisive and we will have to turn them on our side.

The Biancocelesti coach commented on what he wants to see in the match.

We need the perfect game, over the years we’ve always played it the right way. What I didn’t want to see in Bologna is to be conditioned by a wrong episode.

We must always stay in the game, hoping that this time the moments will be in our favour.

The 44-year-old Italian touched on the Biancocelesti’s difficulty in finding the back of the net.

We’re a team that came from 18-19 games where we always scored. In Bologna there was the missed penalty, penalties on the line and many other situations.

For tomorrow we know Juve are a very good team, who play excellent football. We’ll have to play a perfect game.

Finally, Inzaghi spoke about his upcoming contract renewal and the abandoned match against Torino.

There’s no problem at all, we’re in agreement with the president.

I think all the clubs involved have already spoken about the situation we’re experiencing in Serie A. I think we all need to clarify things. And I hope it will be soon.
