Lazio have had its struggles within its team’s backline, but Francesco Acerbi continues to remain as the one reliable player that the side can continually count on.
So far this season, Acerbi has recorded 22 starts in Serie A play, which ranks most among Lazio’s defensive players. More so, as noted by WhoScored, Acerbi currently ranks in the top 10 in both interceptions per game and clearances per game among players with at least 1,500 minutes played in Serie A this season. Acerbi is so far averaging 2.8 interceptions per game (3rd) and 3.9 clearances per game (6th) in league play — both of which also lead the team.
Acerbi continues to do his part to help lead Lazio to key wins in all competitions. In the big picture, it will be noteworthy to watch whether Lazio’s board has plans to bolster the team’s defensive depth in order to provide a helping hand to Acerbi in the side’s back-three setup.
