Lazio striker Ciro Immobile’s agent Marco Sommella was happy that his client would be receiving his European Golden Boot today.
Speaking with Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb earlier today, Sommella spoke about how the player would have liked to celebrate the award with his fans.
It’s finally here, it’s the crowning achievement of a career, it’s a shame he won’t be able to celebrate it with his own fans, it would have been crazy if they had given it to him before Lazio-Bayern with 80,000 spectators at the Olimpico.
Ciro is sorry, he’s a player for the people. Maybe there will be a way, unfortunately now is a delicate moment for everyone. A year has passed but it seems like a lifetime, priorities have changed.
He spoke about the importance of the award for the 31-year-old Italian striker.
We have to thank president Lotito, who personally took action. It’s a historic, institutional and important place, it has its charm and represents the city. It’s not every player that gets an award there.
It’s a great privilege for Ciro, who has won a very important award. Before him, only two Italians have won it. And only Suarez had managed to win it, breaking the domination of Messi and Ronaldo.
Finally, Sommella spoke about Lazio’s next match against Crotone on Friday.
Certainly, the hope is that he and his teammates can break this negative streak. A year ago, Lazio were first in the table, now they are behind but they are still a strong team.
They’ve had a physiological drop and it’s due to the many games, we haven’t seen the usual Lazio. We hope we can get back on track as soon as possible.
The 31-year-old Immobile will be given the European Golden Boot today by Rome mayor Virginia Raggi at the Campidoglio.
