Lazio Eyeing Inter Milan Defender for This Upcoming Summer Transfer Window

Lazio’s 2020-21 season is ongoing, but it’s never too early to look at how the club can improve the squad heading into the 2021-22 campaign. One area that the Biancocelesti could look to upgrade is their central defense.

Over the Winter Transfer Window, Simone Inzaghi’s side brought Mateo Musacchio on a loan deal from AC Milan to help improve its defense. Furthermore, Wesley Hoedt has been on loan from Southampton since the 2020 Summer Transfer Window; but it doesn’t appear as though Lazio will exercise the option to keep either player.

As a result, the defense will see new faces next season, and La Lazio Siamo Noi reports that Lazio are looking at a veteran Italian player to upgrade its central defense: Inter Milan’s Andrea Ranocchia.

The 33-year-old’s contract expires in June, and therefore, Lazio will look to acquire the player on a free transfer. Ranocchia has only made five appearances this season for Inter, but he has spent the majority of his career playing in the top flight of Italian football with the Nerazzurri.
