The last time that Lazio clinched a spot in the Champions League knockout stage was over the 1999/2000 campaign. The group stage portion of that season’s Champions League provided Lazio players with an opportunity to showcase their talent to a larger audience.
Among the players that took advantage of this major opportunity was Simone Inzaghi.
The Italian striker scored nine goals in that season’s Champions League competition, including four in a grand showing against Olympique de Marseille.
Inzaghi wowed Lazio fans with one of the top performances ever by a Biancocelesti forward.
