Former Italian Defender Wilson Stands Concerned With Lazio’s Defensive Performance Against Crotone

Former Italian defender Giuseppe Wilson was concerned with Lazio’s recent overall defensive performance in the 3-2 win over Crotone.

Lazio clinched a narrow win over Crotone on matchday 26, but it was far from an effortless performance from the Biancocelesti. While Lazio created multiple high percentage goal-scoring opportunities, the side also gave up a pair of goals to a Crotone side that is currently in a tightly-contested relegation battle.

While Wilson (via Cittaceleste) was pleased to see his former side pick up all three points in the match, he was discouraged with how Lazio allowed such goals to Crotone in their recent fixture.

It was a game to be won without thinking too much about it, the goal was reached and this is the important thing. With them last in the standings, with all due respect you have to win.

We played for most of the match in their half of the field, it’s true, but you can’t give them two goal like the ones we conceded. We gave away a penalty on a counter-attack.

Fortunately, our Caicedo put a patch on it and saved everything that would have happened if we hadn’t won. Let’s start from here to find a team, let’s honor the match against Bayern and then focus on the Champions League race because we want to play it again.

Lazio has now allowed 11 goals in its last four matches in all competitions.
