Lazio midfielder Gonzalo Escalante confirmed that the squad are looking to play a strong game against Bayern Munich in tomorrow’s Champions League clash.
Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 27-year-old Argentine midfielder first spoke about the lessons that he’s learnt from Lucas Leiva.
I have always watched Serie A and dreamed of playing in this league. Leiva is a top-player, who played many years at Liverpool, we all know that.
I’m comfortable here and I like to play as a centre-half in the 3-5-2. I’m comfortable in front of the defense and I’m happy.
He touched on what kind of game the dressing room is hoping to play.
We will go and play our game. If we play as we know how, we will go there to win.
The former Eibar man commented on what he’s feeling before the game.
As I said before, they are the world champions. It will be a difficult game, but we will play our game and try to win it.
Finally, Escalante discussed how tomorrow’s game against Bayern can help the team’s growth process.
A lot. I think tomorrow’s game is one that everyone in the world would like to play, a dream game. It will be very important for us to continue on this path in the league.
The 27-year-old Escalante has made 24 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 834 minutes. In that time, he has provided one assist.
