“We Have to Grow and Play These Games Again in the Future” — Marco Parolo on the Mentality Following Lazio’s Champions League Elimination

Lazio crashed out of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 stage following its 6-2 tie loss to Bayern Munich.

Lazio scored a pair of goals in the tie, including one from Marco Parolo.

For Lazio’s long-time talent, the goal for him is to once again qualify for the Champions League in order to be a part of such highly-anticipated ties as this one. Parolo spoke to Sky Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) following the match about this goal.

The first leg game said a lot but we are here in an important stadium and playing against a very strong team. We have to show that we can play against them, as a cue for the future.

We need to grow and play more of these games in the future, and to do that we need to be in the top four in the league.

The habit of playing certain games makes the difference. For them, a Champions League Round of 16 is normal; the adrenaline can play tricks on you, but playing these games you learn to manage the moments and the emotions.

Parolo is set to become a free agent at the end of the season. Even at the age of 36, the Italian talent hopes to still continue his footballing career after this season.

At the moment, I still want to play and continue, but I still see myself in football in my future. Evenings like these leave an indelible mark on you. Too bad there are no fans, but I hope that football can continue to convey these emotions.

Parolo has so far totaled for 19 appearances in all competitions over the ongoing season.
