Pepe Reina earned the start for Lazio in its UEFA Champions League return fixture against Bayern Munich. While Bayern ended up scoring a pair of goals, Reina did come away from the match with several key saves against his former club.

Overall, Reina continues to rack up career appearances in European competitions. As noted by the Twitter account Statsdufoot, Reina has now totaled for 178 appearances in UEFA club competitions, which includes featuring in tournaments such as the Champions League and Europa League.

Reina’s 178 appearances puts him at third all-time behind only Iker Casillas (186) and Cristiano Ronald0 (184).

This may have been Reina’s last ever appearance in a UEFA club competition. If it was, the Spanish goalkeeper ends his career in such competitions with a pair of UEFA Intertoto Cup wins and a UEFA Super Cup trophy win.

For now, Reina will look to help Lazio finish the ongoing season on a strong note.
