Lazio’s Participation in the Champions League Generated Over €45m in Revenue

Lazio earnt just over €45 million this season thanks to their participation in the UEFA Champions League.

According to a report from Italian newspaper Il Tempo (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, over half of that €45 million is thanks to the team’s participation in the group stages of the competition.

The Biancocelesti earnt €14.5 million for being in the groups, as well as a further €12.2 million thanks to the ten-year/historical ranking, bringing the total up to €26.7 million. Added on to the previous figure are the funds earnt from the results on the pitch.

The two wins in the groups against Borussia Dortmund and Zenit are both worth €2.7 million each, and the four draws were worth €900 thousand each, bringing the total result revenue to €9 million, plus the €9.5 million bonus for reaching the Round of 16.

The hope is that the Biancocelesti can manage to qualify for the Champions League next season as well, which would allow them to remain consistent in their results and expected revenue.
