Multiple Premier League clubs are still interested in Lazio forward Vedat Muriqi.
According to a report from Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, three English clubs were interested in the 26-year-old Kosovan whilst he was still at Fenerbahce. These three teams were Burnley, Tottenham and Manchester United, who were all linked to the striker prior to his move to Rome this past summer.
The reason for their interest stemmed from their appreciation of the 26-year-old’s physical qualities; they thought that he would be a good match for English football, which is often advertised as being more physically intense.
Despite having a hefty price-tag, Muriqi has massively disappointed since joining Lazio in the summer, only scoring two goals and providing one assist in 24 appearances across all competitions. This has been extremely frustrating for the Biancocelesti, especially considering the investment they made in a period of low revenue due to COVID-19.
While in Rome, the Biancocelesti are simply focusing on finishing the 2020/21 season on a high, in England, they haven’t forgotten the player that Muriqi was with Fenerbahce and are still following him closely.
As a result, Corriere della Sera states that talks could open up once the season concludes.
