In Lazio’s fixture against Udinese Calcio, the storyline was that the Biancocelesti needed to come away with all three points. After having their UEFA Champions League season come to an end this week, Lazio wanted to head into the FIFA international break on a positive note.

However, the other storyline in this match was Stefan Radu inching closer to Lazio immortality, as the 34-year-old tied Giuseppe Favalli for most appearances with the Rome-based club. Both players now share the record of 401 appearances, but it will be Radu’s record once he suits up for Lazio’s next fixture against Spezia Calcio.

After the match, Radu first discussed reaching the milestone with Lazio Style Channel (via La Lazio Siamo Noi). Furthermore, the veteran defender admitted that he didn’t see himself being at Lazio for this long when he arrived in 2008.

Appearance record? I didn’t think I’d get his far. I continued game after game. I have been playing for 13 years and still do it.

All the matches for me were remarkable. Each match has its own emotions and a story. I keep all 401 games with Lazio close to my heart. If I had to choose one that I prefer the most, I would have to say the final of the Coppa Italia in 2013.

Udinese? They were two very different teams in each half. We played the first half very well. In the second half, they put us in a bit of trouble. We suffered, but we didn’t concede a goal. We bring home three points, and we are thrilled.

In Lazio’s win over Udinese, Radu played 90 minutes while having 80 touches, resulting in him making five key passes. On the defensive end, Radu had six clearances and three interceptions as he did his part in preserving the clean sheet for Lazio.
