“I Will Continue to Improve and Help My Team” – Muriqi Comments on Lazio’s Victory Over Udinese

After a middle-of-the-week fixture against FC Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie, Lazio would see a bit of a rotation in their starting eleven against Udinese Calcio.

One of the players that would get the nod and see minutes as a starter is Vedat Muriqi. The 26-year-old played 66 minutes, where he made 26 touches and went eight for 12 on his passes. However, while Muriqi is out there to help score goals, he didn’t fire off a shot during his time on the pitch.

In his postgame comments to the Lazio Style Channel (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Muriqi discussed the 1-0 victory over Udinese. Lazio continues to make a late push as they aim for a top-four finish in the latter parts of this campaign.

We did a great job today. It was essential to win. We did better in the first half, but the important thing was the three points. In the second half, we were more defensive. We are Lazio, and we want to continue our race for the Champions League. We will have two weeks off to recover some energy.

Muriqi then touched on his performance as the striker understands the price tag Lazio spent on him and wants to deliver.

Finished at Lazio? When I came here, I knew that people expected a lot from me. The club spent about 20 million on me. I had some difficulties due to my injury, then I got Covid and then there is the transition from Turkey to Italy. A lot of criticism has arrived. I know that I am a striker and have to score, but the commitment never fails. I always try to help the team even if I don’t score. I will continue to improve and help my team.
