With the FIFA international break taking place this week, Lazio wanted to head into it on a positive note. After dealing with their elimination this week against FC Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League, the Biancocelesti headed on the road to face Udinese Calcio.

The Rome-based club would only need a late first-half strike from Adam Marušić to come away with a 1-0 win. After the match, Simone Inzaghi spoke to the media, where La Lazio Siamo Noi relaid his comments.

One of the first questions that Inzaghi answered is over the performances of Stefan Radu and Marušić.

I agree that they were good today, but we are talking about essential players and not followers. It was an insidious match against Udinese. We needed an intense game, and we did it. We played Bayern Munich on Wednesday, and we had some problems in the return leg.

The media then questioned whether the squad looked tired as Lazio was less dangerous in the second half. They only had four total shots; however, Inzaghi disagrees that it was due to his men being exhausted.

Absolutely not. We did well for 65 minutes, only in the last 25 minutes, we struggled a little, but that’s okay. I am very, very satisfied.

Finally, Inzaghi spoke about his team’s form and refuted the notion that they’re experiencing a lousy run.

Two of our last three defeats over the last five games have come from Bayern Munich. In the league, we have made seven wins out of the previous 10, so the guys are doing well. With the last two consecutive victories, we have accelerated again. We know we have to recover some points, and we will play the remaining matches to the best of our abilities.

At this point in the season, Lazio needs the three points any way they can get them, and the performance doesn’t necessarily have to be pretty. When the Biancocelesti return from the break, they’ll welcome Spezia Calcio to the Stadio Olimpico.
