“Winning This Match Was Fundamental” – Adam Marušić Discusses Lazio’s Victory Over Udinese

Lazio experienced a disappointing ending to its UEFA Champions League campaign. However, they had to transition its focus to domestic competition. The Biancocelesti is hoping for a late-season push that sees them finish in the top four, and Simone Inzaghi’s squad got off to a good start with its 1-0 win over Udinese Calcio.

In the first half, Adam Marušić would score the fixture’s lone goal. After a cross went into the box, an unmarked Marušić would dribble the fire off a quality shot that would find the back of the net.

Marušić spoke to the Lazio Style Channel (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) in his post-game interview, where he discussed the victory.

From the beginning we played well, I scored, and I’m delighted. It wasn’t easy, Udinese plays good football.

Winning this match was fundamental. We have to continue like this; there are many games to go. We are all close to this fourth place. We will continue to work for it.

I think the break has come at a perfect moment; we have two weeks to recover. Some will go to the national team and play three games in a few days; we will see each other in two weeks and see.

I feel better, I have worked hard, and I have to continue like this. This is the right path.

The most challenging moment? In the last 10/15 minutes, they had many opportunities to score, but we brought these three points home.

Along with his goal, Marušić had two total shots on target in his 90 minutes. In addition, the 28-year-old had 45 touches and went 24 for 28 on his passes (for an 86-percent completion percentage) and went two for five with regards to tackle success.
