Stefan Radu recently made Lazio history during the team’s Serie A fixture against Udinese. In the match, Radu recorded his 401st career appearance for Lazio, which tied him with Giuseppe Favalli for the most all-time in the club’s history.

Former Lazio manager Delio Rossi was there when the club signed Radu from Romanian side FC Dinamo Bucuresti in 2008.

In speaking to Italian-based site GianlucaDiMarzio.com, Rossi took a look back on his early impressions of Radu.

He made a huge impression on me, so I immediately launched him in Florence in the Italian Cup.

We saw him for the first time in August 2007 during the play-offs. He was fast, and above all left-handed with a good technique and a good personality. He is popular, but he has always wanted to devote himself only to the game. A captain, on the other hand, has many tasks and has to talk to the president or the sporting director.

Rossi also lauded Radu for his sheer commitment to Lazio.

A beautiful story. In this football, it is difficult to stay in the same team for many years, and when it happens often you are an alternative. Instead, he has always remained the protagonist.

Radu is surely among the best to ever put on the Lazio shirt.
