UEFA kicked off its 2022 World Cup qualifying schedule on Wednesday. Among the fixtures on the matchday was a duel between Group G teams Montenegro and Latvia.
Lazio’s Adam Marusic earned the start for Montenegro in the match and he wound up having a fine performance, which came just days after he scored the game-winning goal for the Biancocelesti against Udinese.
In the match, Marusic played as a right-back and completed 32 passes, recorded three interceptions, logged two dribble attempts and notched two ground duels won.
Marusic played a key role in helping Montenegro clinch a 2-1 win as he ended up playing in the entirety of the match.
Montenegro will have two more World Cup qualifying fixtures upcoming in the ongoing March international window, which will come against Gibraltar and Norway.
Following these matches, Marusic will return to Lazio to finish off the remainder of the ongoing Serie A campaign.
