Former Lazio Defender Raffaele Sergio Believes Vedat Muriqi Is Still a Significant Part of Lazio

There’s no denying that when a player switches countries and leagues during a transfer, there’s an adjustment period. However, Vedat Muriqi has made little progress in adjusting the form that made him a successful striker in Turkey with Fenerbahçe SK to Italy and Serie A.

In 25 appearances in all competitions, the 26-year-old has only scored two goals. Safe to say that Lazio isn’t getting their money’s worth. As a result, various rumours are surfacing that the Biancocelesti is looking for another striker but wants to offload Muriqi too.

However, former Lazio defender Raffaele Sergio stated that Muriqi remains an essential player for Simone Inzaghi’s side during an interview appearance on  Biancoceleste radio (via Lazio News).

Muriqi is an important player. If he finds confidence, he can do well. The forwards at Lazio need to find the back of the net. Immobile hasn’t even done it recently. Muriqi can have significant improvements. When an attacker does not find confidence or the goal, this can lead to problems. Inzaghi is slowly finding the right solution for him.

Muriqi had the opportunity to aid Lazio in secondary scoring as Ciro Immobile hit a cold streak. However, that didn’t occur. As a result, it will be interesting to see what Lazio does with Muriqi because they did invest a significant amount of money.

Nonetheless, Lazio needs someone they can rely on for secondary scoring. If Immobile should hit a cold streak, they should have someone to pick up the slack.
