Former Italian national team manager Eugenio Fascetti provided his take on the differences between Ciro Immobile’s performances for Lazio and the Italian national team.

Immobile is currently with the Italian national team for its 2022 World Cup qualifying fixtures. Overall, Immobile has scored 11 career goals in 42 appearances for Italy, which includes a recent key goal against Northern Ireland.

Still, Fascetti believes that there are stark contrasts between Immobile’s play for Lazio and Italy. The former Lazio manager spoke (via Cittaceleste) in-depth about the Italian national team and also on Immobile.

Italy’s midfield is definitely good enough. We have strong players in or midfield. I just did not understand the kind of game that they played yesterday.

Immobile? To me, it seems like he just another person in the national team. However, with Lazio, he is fantastic.

Italy will have one more fixture left in the ongoing international break, which will come against Lithuania. This fixture should provide Immobile with a key test in the case that he does go on to feature in the match.
