Lazio Striker Immobile Fails to Make an Impact off the Bench for Italy Against Bulgaria

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile failed to make an impact off the bench in Italy’s 2-0 win over Bulgaria yesterday.

The 31-year-old Italian forward came on as a substitute in the 75th minute of the 2022 World Cup qualifier at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia yesterday, replacing Torino striker Andrea Belotti.

In his 15 minutes on the pitch, Immobile took three shots, all of which were on target, but failed to find the back of the net.

In his previous start for the Azzurri, the 31-year-old Lazio striker scored once in a 2-0 win over Northern Ireland last week.

Coach Roberto Mancini still has to decide which Italian forward will lead the line for the Azzurri in this summer’s European Championship, with both Belotti and Immobile struggling to translate their club form to the international stage.

Immobile has only scored 11 goals in 44 caps for Italy, a far cry from his clinical numbers at club level.
