Lazio Women coach Carolina Morace was satisfied with yesterday’s 2-0 win over Pomigliano.
Speaking in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 57-year-old Italian spoke about the winning performance.
Against Pomigliano it’s certainly never easy, but we have grown and yesterday was our best game since I’ve been here, also from the point of view of mentality. When we didn’t have the ball, we had the right anger to recover it, I’m happy even if there is still room for improvement.
It is fundamental to address the matches immediately, after 20 minutes we already deserved a 3-0 advantage. In the last competitions we happened to score, but without being able to close the match, yesterday it happened. The changes were made to keep our concentration high.
The league has grown in quality, but we don’t understand anything and the league table says so. Winning yesterday was liberating and gave awareness to the team. I have to thank the girls for increasing the intensity of training without batting an eyelid.
Now we are succeeding in many things, we are improving. I put a lot of emphasis on the girls having fun on the pitch. I don’t want any tension to drop and I want them to keep encouraging each other. This win shows our true value.
She dedicated yesterday’s win to former Primavera player Daniel Guerini, who sadly passed away last week.
The event affected us. It always hurts when a young person dies. He shared with us the love for Lazio. The dedication goes to him and to all those youngsters who lose their lives for no reason.
Finally, Morace discussed her squad and the leaders on the pitch.
The team is a mix of youngsters and the experience of veterans like Martin. It was nice the embrace between the Spaniard and Visentin. I liked the sharing of the goal and the spirit. From here we have to start again. The young girls want to establish themselves, many are passionate Lazio players.
We’re trying to develop them through training. Castiello has also grown a lot. We must underline the performance of Camilla Labate, but they all played well. Now we must continue like this, there will be seven finals.
