Lazio Women striker Claudia Palombi dedicated yesterday’s 2-0 win over Pomigliano to former Biancocelesti Primavera midfielder Daniel Guerini.

Speaking in an interview with Lazio Style Radio (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 23-year-old Italian spoke about the importance of yesterday’s win.

Yesterday’s victory is dedicated to Daniel Guerini. On behalf of the whole team, I’d like to send a big hug to his family. We took control of the game and closed it out in the last quarter of an hour. It was a group victory.

This is a crazy league, I have never played a season like this with all the top teams, there’s 5 or 6 of us within two points and this teaches us to be always ready and to take advantage of the other teams when they make mistakes.

Coach Morace has given us the will to win, since yesterday I hope that the course is the right one. Now there are seven finals in which we demand seven victories.

The recoveries will be important already from Thursday when we meet Perugia. We’re playing at home and we have to take advantage of this opportunity and wait and see what the others will do as they all have direct matches.

She spoke about the team’s tactical evolution this season.

The aspect on which we are working is certainly the tactical one, we have passed from a 4-2-3-1- to a 4-3-3, you can see the imprint of Morace, we play by heart. We are also working on the mental aspect, we all have to be motivated and there must be no tension.

Each of us knows what we have to do. Last year it helped us a lot, we had no goals, we were carefree and we arrived at the end only penalised by the algorithm.

This year we started out knowing that we were the team to beat and that we had very specific objectives, it was supposed to be the year of promotion and we never stopped believing in it. There were difficulties, but we took the positive aspects from them.

Finally, Palombi discussed her own personal goals.

To be able to score as many goals as possible to take the team to the top. I’d hoped to have scored more at this point but the season isn’t over yet. I know I can give a lot to this Lazio team.
